Just trying to do some reasearch here, and if anyone can help me, that would be brilliant.
I’ve been searching and searching, and from what I can tell, it seems that Quake has bene in use longer as a compeditive game than Starcraft.
Please, if anyone can correct this for me, brilliant, otherwise the masses at Games Bootcamp are gonna be told Quake started it all.

It goes both ways, Quake (as in Quake I) has been used in competitive gaming before starcraft due to being released 2 years earlier.
BUT starcraft has been used much longer as its only the same game over the years (since its release date til today), while quake 1 no longer is really used in competitive gaming and each sequal replacing the last.
Quake has had alot less lasting appeal compared to starcraft and rare to find any version played in major gaming tournaments now days, yet its common to see starcraft.
To quote wiki “Quake 4 is seen as the smallest of all professional games” due to a smaller fanbase, yet starcraft has a lot more following.
Anyway back to original question, Starcraft has been played longer BUT quake 1 did start before it.
do you mean quake, quake2 or quake 3 arena?
because as a single game StarCraft would win hands down
