A lol for the Thursday, Friday is almost here!
When driving, has anyone seen, on the side of the road, on these fairly tall poles (I’d say around 2 meters, maybe a little taller), these signs, they are white, and kinda square, kinda rectangular in shape? They are all white, except for this, well fairly big black number smack bang in the centre, with a fairly thick red circle around the outside?
Yes, seen ‘em? With how people seem to be driving, you’d think these signs are bloody hard to see. Either that, or they arn’t directed at them.
I get so frustrated, when people ignore these signs, then procede to get shitty at me, honk, toot, and drive up my arse, just because I’m doing the speed limit, like its some crime, and me doing 60, in a 60 zone, insted of 65, or 70 is going to make them extreamly late.
You see, suburban driving, isn’t really about how fast your going, theres really no travel time difference between 60 and 70, what gets you there quicker, is planning ahead, and avoiding bottol necks.
I guess maybe I don’t understand why it seems, everyone, everywhere needs to be doing at least 10 over the speed limit. It doesn’t achieve anything. Maybe its the whole “going fast” thing, but 70 isn’t really that fast, go to a track day, and you can open up the throttle as far as you want.
I just don’t get it.
Today, we had to work with a new system, there was a big fancy presentation, and we all got to see how it works etc, just a few concepts and new acronyms to wrap our heads around… and apparently the system was fully tested and working for what we have to do.
So it came time to actualy do this new work, and its plaged with issues. First of all we could get into half the stuff because we didn’t have permisions. Then we couldn’t access certian off-site parts, because of some code clashing with our user type, etc. This stuff went on and on.
Apparently the group testing it, only tested with completly unrestricted accouts, forgetting those that will use it actualy don’t have all that freedom. So in 6 hours, only about 2 hours of it, maybe 2.5 was spent working.
Morral of the story: test in a way that your users will be using the system.
A Microsoft Ergo keyboard….
I am seiruosly considering getting one… if I can find it for the right price!
Just reading through one of the blogs I frequent, and I thought some of you guys might like this:
From CraigMattson.net
You ask the salesman “does the stove come with the stove top?”. The salesman says “No.” You say “can I get a third party one?”. The salesman says “Absolutely not.”. You think Ok… maybe you can get away with buying a hotplate later on because the rest of the package is great. You look at the supplied kettle and think wow – I could make hot chocolate, coffees etc… with the kettle so you ask the salesman about what you can do with the kettle. The salesman replies “You must use compatible coffee only.”. You say “can’t I use Nescafe?”. The salesman replies “No. It must be from our store, otherwise it won’t make it”. You end up buying it because it’s just too shiny and too good to walk away from. You get it home, and try to use the oven and the microwave at the same time – but it’s not going to let you because you can only use one thing at a time. That’s what the iPhone is like.
Its not all negetive, head on over, and take a read of it.
