long(ish) update

July 16th, 2007

(Monday 16th of July 2007 09:56:31 PM)

Well I figured it was best to write an update, since I haven’t updated since I turned off comments.
So what has been happening? Well quite a lot really.

dscf2799_400I shall start with GreenTubeLAN6: Register for Cake. Yes, we had a cake, and we tried a few new things.

The first new thing we tried was Quake4. I insisted to the other admins that we use Quake4 as the official tourney game, and I am quite happy that I did. It ran smooth. It was easy to setup. It was fun for those playing.
For those that don’t know, Quake4 has a built in tournament mode, where all players join, and then are automaticly seeded and sorted into brackets, where upto 8 games can take place at once. This means that we no longer have to use ALP to organize brackets, and I don’t have to guess player skill to make seeds anymore.

So everyone connected to the server, once the last player Wombat connected, everyone quickly tapped F3, and the games began.

Me and Craig spent most of our time going around the row of tables shoutcasting random games.
Eventualy it came down to the last games. Misclanious vs Slaya, and Dalm vs Evil Kenshin. Dalm beat Evil kenshin in a very close, low scoring game, which was the reason why he didn’t get 3rd. The game between Slaya and Misc was also a low scoreing game, but Misc seemed to be having an easy time of it.
Then it came to the finals. 4 to -1. Misc played the game of his life, and manage to play a very very skilled game. Misc managed to gain control over the Mega and Red armour, leaving nothing for Dalm to get. I’m very proud, Luke learnt well from me.dsc07346_400
After that, it was random games, although I didn’t get to play many as I was running around heaps. Eventually Mike showed up, and Craig went to get the pizzas. Well, Mike showed after the pizza. I started eating the Pizza, only to find I was having an allergic reaction to it. Turns out I am now allergic to Pizza :( Anyway, me and Mike walked to McChucks to get some Tripple Cheese burgers whilst Craig ran the V8 challenge tournament.
When we got back, the qualifiers for V8 had just finished. So me, Mike, and Frank started setting up the awards. We decided a one year birthday LAN it should be spectacular. We got my projector driver system, hooked it into a projector, and pointed it at a brilliant backdrop, we got the sound system plugged up, and spent a good half an hour getting the lighting and seating setup just perfect whilst people raced around in Bathurst.
Eventualy it came to the time to get everyone in. The awards were given out, everyone had fun. Craig seemed to love standing on “stage” properly for the first time at GTLAN.
Then it was cake time, me and Mike walked it out, a small speech was made, Frank interrupted when we mentioned Nick, and we ate the brilliant Mudcake that my mother had made.

dsc07276_400The other thing that happened was me, Mike and Nick going into Zone Adrenalan, the eSports games room in Melbourne. Boy that was fun. We met up at the station, mew and Mike deciding to get some Nerds. On the way there, Mike got a sugar high off the nerds. That was so funny watching him, he even went “I’m freaking out man” as a small kid walked past.
We got to ZAM at around 11, and decided to become members. They decided to put us in the smaller room, as there where a bunch of CS1.6 players practicing, and they know that we are Quake players, and hence need our quiet.
Nick instantly wished he had brang his mouse pad like I had, the normal sized mouse pads were just to small for him, even tho he is a high sensitivity player.
Any way that was really good fun.

dsc07280_400The last thing that I’ve done this break, is me and Rachel went away for the weekend.
BEST WEEKEND EVER.
We got a free room upgrade, as it seemed all the cabins we had booked were full, so no complaints at a free upgrade there.
Soverin Hill was cold, we only stayed for an hour.
Rachel dragged me to a Cow Art exabition at the Balart Fine Art gallery, I thaught it was going to be boring, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, I had good fun, thanks for dragging me there Rachel :) .
When we went to Lake Wanduri, turns out the pub there had caught fire, so that was interesting.
Love you heaps Rachel.

Now, its back to Uni, I have to repete Java2, but I am going to put everything into passing this God forsaken subject.
